Illegal operation

I have been getting an illegal operation message when
starting up my computor. WUCRTUPD in Module WS2_32.DLL
anyone have any ideas on correcting this? It seems I began
having this problem after downloading an update.

Click Start> Settings> Control Panel> Add\Remove Programs> Install/Uninstall tab.
Select the Critical Update Notification Service, and click Remove.

Then go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
scan for updates, and re-install the Notification Service, from the list of available update (it's not one of the Critical Updates, but an update for Windows in the next section).
